SUMMARY

CHAPTER 1: - WHEN QUOTING FARES

Identify the Global Indicator for the given sector.

Match the Class of Service to be traveled to the fare type.
Reservation Booking Designator
Ticket Fare Basis
F (First class)
F/P or P F etc.
C/J/D (Intermediate class)
C/J or C C etc.
S/Y/M/K (Economy/coach)
Y/S or Y Y etc.

Identify the Trip type

OW = OW using OW NUCs
RT = Return Trip using RT NUC

Select applicable carrier in the case of carrier coded fares. Such carrier-coded
fares
have precedence over IATA (YY) fares.

Comply with the conditions accompanying the fares selected especially those
concerning the number of stopovers & transfers in the routing.
CHAPTER 2: - CONVERSIONS
NucS are not rounded but trimmed down to 2 decimal places.
2 Types of rounding
1. Full Adjustment (H1)
2. Half Adjustment (N1 Nearest one)

The correct number of decimals places is required when showing entries in the
Fare
& Equivalent Fare Box
Types of exchange rate
1. IROE to convert NUCs to LCF & vice versa.
2. BBR to convert LCF to another currency in the COC.
3. BSR to convert LCF to the currency of payment.
CHAPTER 3: - OW FARE COMPONENT STEPS & CHECKS
If there are multiple fares for the same class from origin to the destination, the lower
level may be used. E. g. Y C F as the case may be; provided that the stopover,
transfer conditions plus seasonal, week or midweek applications accompanying such
fares are followed.
In Ow formula, the only STEPS that are sensitive to the type of Int. SALE Indicator,
include the HIP & the DMC
There are 2 main HIP applications:

SITI/SOTI HIP for intermediate STOPOVER points only.

SOTO/SITO HIP for intermediate TICKETED points.

(AF NUC) is the fare resulting from the use of the fare construction steps including the
mileage system.
BHC is applied to OW routings for all SITI/SITO/SOTO/SOTI applies when there is a
higher fare from ORIGIN TO AN INTERMEDIATE STOPOVER POINT
CHAPTER 4: - SPECIAL MILEAGE PROVISIONS
DUAL TPMs : In case of 2 TPMs with different amounts, select the TPM based on the
GI, that best describes flight itinerary of the carrier to be used for the sector concerned.
MPM DEDUCTIONS (with ticketing code L/) exist for travel between EUROPE &
JAPAN / KOREA VIA CHINA. This is applied to reduce high EH MPM amounts
published between these points. (ONE SINGLE FLIGHT COUPON ONLY)
BRAZILIAN MILEAGE: for WH fare components to RIO with an EMS, you may
reduce or eliminate the EMS by borrowing the MPM/ TPM to SAO & vice versa (B/-)
SOUTH ATLANTIC TPM SHORTCUT: (T/)
For travel between countries in the south Atlantic area and Europe, Africa and TC via
certain points
a) ABC UP EUROPE/ ME/ VIA MIA/ YMQ/ NYC /YTO
b) ABC UP - TC VIA MIA/ NYC/ WAS/ ATL/ YMQ/YTO

CHAPTER 5: - RETURN / CIRCLE TRIP

EVERY CIRCLE TRIP has a MINIMUM FARE (CTM) which is based on the RT fare
from the ORIGIN to the highest rated STOPOVER PT in the CT for all SITI/ SOTI/
SITO/ SOTO.
A process of ELIMINATION is always used if you have MORE THAN ONE FARE
FOR A SECTOR. After ignoring the higher of the fares, you narrow down the option to a
single fare per sector where you then look for the highest fare among the remaining
lower amounts.
The HIP check may use SECONDARY FARES provided conditions of the rule regarding
number of stopovers transfers, seasonalities, midweek and weekend application are followed.
FOR CTM checks, you may immediately apply SECONDARY FARES
WITHOUT CHECKING STOPOVER/TRANSFER CONDITIONS.

BACKHAUL CHECK EXCEPTION

IGNORE BHC FOR
1. Journeys wholly (entirely) within TC
2. Journeys wholly between ABC UP Africa, Europe, ME.
3. For FARE COMPONENTS wholly within EUROPE.
CHAPTER 6: - JOURNEYS WITH SURFACE SECTORS
Surface sectors not flown by air but traveled either by land or by sea.
Surface sector are classified as either domestic or International and by Location: at
ORIGIN, TURNAROUND or between FARE COMPONENTS OR BOTH.
FARE LEVELS
RT FARES applies to Domestic Surface Sectors including:
a. US/ Canada
b. International surface sector located in Europe (for transatlantic
routings only)
OW FARES applies to
a. International surface sector
OR
b. Whenever a journey with a domestic surface sector has more than
2 international fare components.

CHAPTER 7: - NORMAL FARE OPEN JAW CONSTRUCTION [NOJ]

(ALL DOMESTIC SECTORS)
CHARACTERISTICS

Has one or two domestic sector at: a. Origin
b. Turnaround or
c. Both

TYPES OF NOJ
