in the house from 1844 to
1888, according to the URI
website.
"I have the students do
their field research by visiting
the house and taking notes on
the tour while they observe
the contents of the house,"
]ohnson said. "They reflect on
the meaning that the house
has and come up with a way
that they will describe it."
She then has the students
condense their description
and feelings about the house
into a few sentences. It helps
them learn the power of the
individual sentence, Johnson
said.
