Dear Families,

We had a great first week back from Spring Break. We have

been reviewing expectations, and are ready to get to work. Thank
you for helping your child with their reading journal. They enjoyed
sharing their reading lives with their peers last Friday. We will be
continuing this on Friday of this week. Be sure to keep it in the
reading pouch so that your child has theirs.
We are learning about plants, and have been reading about the
Amazon Rainforest because it is filled with plant life. We are
learning about how people are destroying the rainforest to drill for
oil. We did a Socratic Seminar in our classroom where we discussed
the pros and cons of drilling for oil in the rainforest. They then wrote
an opinion piece about it to practice for our writing assessment on
Monday and Tuesday of this week. I was so impressed with their
work. We are also starting a Go Green Challenge in our room for
the month of April. They came up with what they wanted on the list.
I will attach our challenge checklist to this newsletter. As your child
does each one at home, please check it off and send it in so they
can join the Green Team.
*Be on the lookout for Field Trip information in the next couple of
weeks. The date is May 17 We will be going to Clinton Sease
Farms to learn about plants.
*MAP Testing this Tuesday, April 12 and Thursday April 14. Make
sure they get plenty of rest!
