Where Minds Can Grow!

This Week

This week, we had so much fun re-doing our Dr.

Seuss/Read Across America Week! In two weeks,
weve almost read every Dr. Seuss book written!
Weve also learned all about Dr. Seuss and his life
as an author and illustrator! We focused primarily
on rhyming words and nonsense words (locating
them in the text)!
During our theme time this week weve been talking
about what it means to be a scientist! We are
going to have Annie, our class guinea pig, join us
next week. Shes been at my house, we werent
quite ready for her until now. And after spring
break we will be incubating and hatching baby
chicks (please do not tell your childits a
surprise)! Both of these big events affect our
Science Center. I want them to understand why
we do what we do. On Tuesday, we made our own
miniature scientists to hang in our science center!
During theme this week, we also signed up for our
anaconda construction crews. The design crew met
and made the plan and the stuffing crew stuffed 2
pair of very long pantyhose for our anaconda body!
We also wrote facts about the anaconda (everyone
did a WHOLE PAGE)!!!!!

Next Week

We will finish up our anaconda construction and

habitat! For shared reading, we will be reading
books and searching for our 3rd nine weeks sight
words, as a review. In assessing, several friends
do not have a firm foundation in this nine weeks
words! Please review them at home each night and
I am currently assessing (about 1-2 child(ren) per
day) on their kindergarten checklists! We must
know these words! We are up to 30 words now, and
after spring break, that goes up to 40! So, keep up
the practice at home! Play games, write them,
search for them, anything to make it fun!

ZOO FIELD TRIP

In your folder today, you will find a Zoo Field Trip

permission form. Please fill it out and return it
ASAP! Also, if you would like to commit to being a
chaperone (you may not bring siblings), please
email me or send me a note! We would love to
have you, and we NEED your help to make this a
successful field trip! I need 4-5 volunteers! You
will need to drive and follow the bus (sorry, there
isnt room to ride with us), and you would be
responsible for a small group of students for the
day! Its always SO MUCH FUN, so be sure to let
me know if you can help!

Have a wonderful weekend!
