Trial games finish with Kolts

undefeated...
Kellyville Blacks ensured a solid start to the season by
remaining undefeated through their trial games. A 6-0
victory over Greystanes was followed by a 1-all with
Winston Hills.
Round 2 Kellyville 1 Winston Hills 1
The Kolts worked hard in the first half to maintain
possession, knowing the quality would kick in later in the
match, ensuring that Winsto were chasing the ball. This was
mixed as the temptation to play long was hard to resist.
Dame controlled the backline spreading the ball left and
right and constantly bouncing off the willing middle of Alecs
and Jaime.
Phil was keen on the left and made good space
throughout. Doz came to meet the ball and was able to get
ball to feet even when the marking doubled up on him!
Schoey managing to cough up a lung at the same time as
tackling, passing and running!
The break saw the game focus kick in and for the first
15 minutes of the second half, Winsto were chasing
shadows. The Kolts first to the ball, moving and anticipating,
combining to create chance after chance. The reward being
an absolute cracking combination of passes that finished
with Doz playing a tight ball to Jaimes feet...

...his turn to the left and dribble to space was very classy - the finish sublime as he curled
the ball to the left hand post - all class.
Within a couple of minutes the roles were reversed as Jaime put Doz into the box. A
typically well-timed run that saw the keeper with little option but to bring the genius down, as
he skillfully touched it around him. Penalty! ...Alecs proving to everyone that even after
successfully converting what seems like 100s of pens in the last few seasons, that anything can
happen in footy! The sun in his eyes, a swirling wind, the ball in a hole, a muddy run up and a
fly flying into his mouth as he took his shot......would have all been good excuses...instead he
offered his apologies and the Kolts got on with it.
The beautiful game saw the slip of a couple of Kolts players as Winsto attempted to get
square by pumping a few longer balls and found their striker. A mis hit shot coming back out
from Nolans good save...straight to the striker who managed a chip that just made it the line!
1-1.
The Kolts kicking on for the final ten minutes with wave after wave of attack. After yet
another corner Winsto went to counter attack, but found the hardman of Kellyville in Trev who
cut out the attack before halfway - allegedly in an illegal manner. The resulting free kick saw
him sure up the hardman reputation as the poor Winsto guy got knocked down again - the
Kolts begging the ref to card him (... Winsto too shocked to complain!).
A late chance saw Harry making an inspired run into the box, standing up the keeper with
his usual cool, calm composure and after leaving him lying on the ground, went to slot with his
left but found no power....stuck in the mud from near where Alecs had that pen! The clearance
off the line keeping it all square.
Round 1 Kellyville 6 Greystanes 0
Tough start with a heatwave to help blow out the cobwebs.
A totally dominant performance by the Kolts as the possession game had Greystanes
struggling after 20 minutes to stay with them.
The passing combinations leading to chances....Vic combining with Dan who was able to set
up Poncho who calmly finished for the first.
Another string of passes saw the Kolts controlling on the left hand side. The rest of the field
and the keeper taking the chance to catch a breath. Vic turning from thirty yards and hitting an
absolutely unstoppable stunner taking any life left out of the Greys.
The third and fourth coming quickly as Doz dominated. Bunny putting him in with a quality
ball - Doz looking to dink the keeper, who read it, but Doz quick enough to finish at the
second attempt. This was followed by Vic putting Doz in for his second to see the Kolts up 4-0
at the break.
Two more after the break as Jez played in Vic , who after three goes dribbled another one
in. Vic then set Poncho for his brace.
The skills of Trev unappreciated at the death as he attempted the challenge of controlling a
through ball from Doz on his chin...
