The Three
Rs:
Making a
Difference in
Todays
World
Back when I was growing up, we were told that the
foundation of education was the Three Rs: Reading,
Riting, and Rithmetic (perhaps spelling should have
had higher priority, as well). Thats all it will take for
kids to be able to make a difference in the world. A few
years later, we learned a new set of three Rs: Reduce,
Reuse, and Recycle. Again, having an impact on our
world required us to attend to this new set of three Rs.

Our adjuncts/interns represent specialized ministries in three different age categories: Children,
Youth, and Adults. Pastor Melissa is our Childrens
Adjunct (the title changed from intern due to her
ministry experience). Katie is our new Youth Intern. And the Adult Intern position is unfilled at
this time (and has been since Pastor Cheryl vacated
the role last year) but we hope to fill it in the Fall.
These specialists all work 10 hours a week, under
Pastor Cheryls supervision.
As you have questions or clarifications about our ministries or these roles, please feel free to contact Pastor
Cheryl or Pastor Matt. And as always, please keep this
and all of our ministries in your prayers.

~Pastor Matt

In April, as we move beyond the joy of the Resurrection and follow the mission of Christ to the ends of the
earth, let us re-learn a new set of Rs: Relieve. Reverse.
Refill. Together, these Rs will make an impact beyond
our walls and beyond our generation. Let us join the
disciples as we make a difference in our community and
around the world

So Who Does What Again?

As we welcome Katie Hobson onto the Spiritual Formation team as our intern for Youth Formation, it is
probably a helpful time to remember what our Spiritual
Formation Team looks like, clarifying roles for all of the
Team members. There are basically three parts to our
team: The Spiritual Formation Ministry, our Associate
Pastor for Spiritual Formation, and our team of Interns/Adjuncts. Each role is as follows:
The Spiritual Formation Ministry is the lay leadership portion of the team. Just like the other seven
ministries (Worship, Facilities, etc.), this ministry
meets regularly in order to do the work of their area: oversee the budget assigned and support the
programming of Sunday school, youth and childrens ministries, and special SF events. Brenda
Schenkel is the chair of SF this year.
Our half-time (20 hours a week) Associate Pastor of
Spiritual Formation is the point person for the specialized ministries that take place. Pastor Cheryl is a
supervisor of supervisors, working closely to
oversee and mentor the team of interns and adjunct
who do the work of ministries in three areas.

A few reminders for those of you planning to

-The Lied Center doors open at 6:00. The assembly
begins at 6:30.
-Don't forget your ticket! You will not be admitted
without it. (If you don't have a ticket yet, please contact Steve Yoder at 979-3468.
-Seating is open, but please join your FBC friends in

LiedCenterKS-seatingchart-web.pdf
-If you wish to make a financial contribution to Justice
Matters (and you can expect a plea on Wednesday),
please make your contribution through FBC (write
"Justice Matters" in the memo) rather than directly to
Justice Matters.
-If you need transportation to the Nehemiah Assembly,
contact Steve.

We Need You!
As our
Wednesday
Night programming
comes to an
end for the
school year,
we owe Dava
Cooper and our Wednesday night prep team a big
round of applause for all of their hard work this year!
Dava is transitioning out of Wednesday night cooking
duties (and into increased grandma-duty!) next fall
and we need some cooking help for our Wednesday
nights. If you are interested in serving on a cooking
team to do our Wednesday night meals, please contact
either Pastor Matt or Pastor Cheryl. If you think you
might be interested in helping, but have some questions, get in contact with them and together we will
keep up what has been a great an important part of our
weekly fellowship together!

Churches of the Northeast Area;

Listening Sessions
During the first four months of 2016 ABCCR staff
have been meeting with clergy and congregational
members in churches all across Kansas. Their goal

support healthy ministries.
The next conversation will be held at the Terra
Heights Baptist Church in Topeka on Saturday,
April 23. Please join us from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
at 232 SW Sanneman Dr. (SE of 45th St/Topeka

Also, mark your calendar for Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016 to attend the Northeast Area Annual
Meeting. It will be held at Westside Baptist Church,
