Kickboxing and Nutrition


I researched discrimination in womens sports. I learned about the ways that Title IX has both
helped and hurt women athletes, the science of gender perception and how it affects gender
discrimination, and the ways that gender prejudice in sports can be prevented.
My mentor was Rick Banis, the owner of 9Round North Asheville.
For my project, I worked out at 9Round Fitness and learned the basic moves of kickboxing. I
also followed a nutrition guide to help me choose the right foods and ensure that I was staying
healthy between workouts.
Met with my mentor and received a virtual nutrition guide
Bought various foods listed on the nutrition guide and cut down on unhealthy foods
Started working out at 9Round roughly twice a week

healthy while working out. I learned about:

Healthy foods that maximize physical energy and focus
The biology and myths of weight loss
