2) Choose a topic that you can find more information about in books, magazines, or news papers.

3) It is to write or talk anything that is related to your topic. It is important because many different
ideas you can come up with.

4) LISTING-On a sheet of paper list any and all ideas about your topic
CLUSTERING-In the centre of the page, write the topic and circle it. (Put a balloon around it) As
you think of other ideas, add them to the main topic balloon.
FREE-WRITING- You just write down ideas and thoughts in sentence form about your topic for
10-30 minutes.

5) LISTING-Put items of similarity together and title the group.

→A statement options does not tell the readers what you will be writing about.
3) Tennis was a new addition to the 1992 Olympic Games.
→A simple factual statement without a view point/ 2 paragraphs cannot be written about a
simple fact.
4) This paper will be about the changing Japanese diet.
→A general announcement of the topic does not give the readers enough information.
