Dear UTEP Administration,

With so many cultures interacting with each other, the effects of these
intermingling languages in forming these communities can be seen clearly. From
new variations of languages spoken in different areas emerging in great numbers
in many communities to even places Worldwide, it can be seen that each culture
has an effect of its own on other cultures. With this comes the fact that the
standard English that professors and Universities demand we practice is no
longer the normal English we speak or use today which is why it shouldnt be
as strict and enforced when it comes to writing essays.
It is because these cultures and languages interact so often with each other that
these new variations in languages are created. It is even further more enhanced by
the fact that the world we know today is as connected as it has ever been. Social
media such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter keep people in constant
contact with the so many others throughout the day.
The use of these applications and social media have been a significant reason that
standard version of English that you require is no longer the Standard English of
todays world. It shouldnt be forced on a population where it is not the normal
English to speak. Forcing someone to write in what you think is Standard English
is the same as forcing them to learn something.
With the world as connected as it is, it is inevitable that so many languages have
evolved from what they were to what they are today. Even today, languages are
still constantly changing, evolving, and adapting to fit the surrounding area and
environment they are in. language is an important part in our lives and is
continually changing as our world changes around and with us. This is what
allows us to be as connected as we are today. Social Media has a big influence on
how we live our days and how language has changed so much.

With people all around the world in constant interaction and use of social media,
it has greatly influenced how we use and view language in the world today. With
the use of emojis, people can express their attitudes and expressions without
words or pictures making it so much simpler to communicate these things.
Through the use of social media and clashing cultures the concept of
translanguaging has been influenced greatly. It is only right that we acknowledge
this and respect the way language has changed and eveolved.

Warm regards,
Adrian Milian
