Enter Room: (2.5 minutes)


Have chairs and stands already in place.
Have students put cases and phones in lockers, book bags under chairs.
Students will stop playing when director is on podium.
Schedule of activities is written on board prior to class.

Warm-up: (7 minutes)
1.) Bb minor scale, sustained notes with cues
2.) Play the scale on the rhythmic pattern from the first four measures of the with intensity section.
Play one note every two measures at first, then shorten the amount of time on the scale degree.
a.) First have them clap the rhythm, then sing the notes and clap, then play.
Tuning: (3 minutes)
Have concertmaster give an F, listen first and then everyone play. Play an A for the
woodwinds, an F# for the saxes, and a Bb for the brass. Address any issues.

Rehearsal:
MACRO
Run With Intensity section from beginning to the change where the wind chimes hit and the
timpani solos.
MICRO
Address any issues with
keeping the upbeat tempo
rhythm, syncopation in middle voices, fast runs in flutes
intonation, dynamics, and tone in the melody parts
MACRO
Put any fixes into context by running the entire sections where the issues resided.
Once all corrections are made, run the whole piece.
Closing (2.5 minutes)
