In my searches on the internet for more information on the use of stem


cells and the ethical dilemma that seems to surround them I found an
overwhelming amount of info. The benefits of what a stem cell may be able
to do is endless from the info that I saw. People have this conception that
babies are being killed to obtain the stem cells and I have learned that they
do not. They use what are call blastocysts which are 3-4 day old fertilized
eggs left over from the process of in-vitro fertilization. Therefor no fetus were
harmed in the extraction of the stem cells. Some of the current research
that is being done with stem cells is pretty interesting there is a program that
is trying to use them to help reverse that effects of macular degeneration in
the elderly. There is quite a bit more to the uses and ethics of stem cells and
I cannot wait to look more into the aspects of it.
