Stems Cells: Are They the Cure of Diseases
Do stem cells hold the answer to the possible cure of such ailments as
Alzheimers, cancer, or any other diseases that we claim to be incurable? My
purpose for this project is to explore the world of stem cells and gather a
greater knowledge on what they are, and their benefits to medicine. When I
started to look into this matter I had many preconceived notions about stem
cells, mainly what they are and where they come from.
I had always thought that stem cells came from the destruction of a
fetus in a womans womb, I have since learned that is not the case. Even
with that thought I was never against the research into the stem cell
potential, because all I ever heard was that it could be the answer to many of
lifes medical maladies. Now though after I had begun to look in to the
research I learned that you can get stem cells from many different places
and there are different types of them too. Scientists all over doing research
into the field think that they could unlock the cure to Alzheimers and
repairing damaged muscle after a heart attack. I cannot wait to get to look

more in the directions that research is going and see how the ethical side of
the science has changed its viewpoints.
