DiscoveryEducationsTextReaderChromebook(fortyping/keyboardinginsteadof
handwriting)FlippedLessonvideo(usingScreencastify).

Ifeel,fortheaboveassistivetechnologydevices,thisrubricwaseffectiveforevaluation
purposes.Therubricestablisheswhoisusingthedevicewherethedevicewillbeusedand
thegoalofusingthedevice.

Thefourelementsoftherubric:IndependentFunctioning,QualityofPerformance,Focus,and
SelfAdvocacywerefittingforthistypeofanalysis.TheratingscaleofBeginning,Developing,
Accomplished,andExemplaryweregood.However,ImnotsureifAccomplishedisatermI
woulduseasitfeelsveryclosetoExemplarytome.Perhapsanevaluativetermsuchas
Competentwouldbeabetterwordchoice.Regardless,therubricwasveryuserfriendlyand
easytouse.IlikethatitputalotoftheemphasisonthestudentusingtheATdeviceandthe
outcomeofthestudentsworkwhileusingthedevice.

Specifically,withtheDiscoveryEducationTextReader,therubricworkedquitewell.This
particularATdevicesusefallsintoallfouroftherubricsegments.TheChromebookfor
keyboarding,Ifeel,ismuchthesameinthatuseofthekeyboardingfunctioncreates
independence,improvesqualityofstudentwork,focusesthestudent,andthestudentismuch
moreapttousethisATdeviceonhisorherownwithoutpromptingbytheteacher.

AsfarastheFlippedLessonvideousingScreencastify,therubricwouldbeproficient,butIthink
arubricwithmorescoringsegments,suchasdoestheATdevicehaveselfpacingcapabilities
(canthestudentstopandreplaythevideoorslowthevideodown,etc..),wouldbebeneficial.
Otherwise,thisrubricisproficientforscoringthisATdeviceaswell.

Overall,thisrubricwouldbegoodfortheevaluationofmanytypesofAssistiveTechnology
Devices.
