Name of Artifact: Service Learning Reflective Summary

Date: April 13th, 2016
Course: EDUC 101 Introduction to Teaching
Brief Description:
Service Learning involved teacher assistance and tutoring in the classroom. I selected a
public school and completed 16 hours. My activity checklist was fully completed with 20
activities done throughout that time. Spending extended time with this teacher and in the
classroom allowed me to gain first-hand knowledge of her teaching style, the environment of the
classroom, daily activities, and the field of education in general.

Rationale:
To document my understanding of InTASC Standard 10, Leadership and Collaboration, I
have selected to include our Service Learning project. My selection exemplifies this particular
standard because during my time in the classroom I got to experience a teacher role and work
with other professionals in my major. I got to talk with students, get involved in some parent
collaboration, and advance my outlook on my future profession.
