Final Year Project Summary (Final Year, XXX - XXX)

Numerical analysis of low Reynolds number flow through multiple non-symmetrical

triangular constrictions in tubes

Flow is assumed to be two dimensional, laminar and Newtonian

Finite difference method

Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method is used to discretize the vorticity time
transport equation. Succesive Over Relaxation (SOR) method is used to discretize the
vorticty-stream function

FORTRAN used for computation

Streamline contours, vorticity contours, wall vorticity values, centreline and wall
pressure values are plotted and studied for different constriction ratios

Effects of the first constriction on subsequent constrictions are also studied

Industrial Design Project Summary (Third Year, XXX - XXX)

Design project in collaboration with XXX

CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of multiple fluid streams into a

manifold

Analysis done in Ansys Fluent (an industrial software for modeling and visualisation
of flows); with meshing done in Gambit and modeling in SolidWorks

Study of back pressure variation with varying inlet flow rates, as well as inlets'
dimensions (angle, location and size)

Study of multiphase interaction (at the outlet) between water layer and gases. Pressure
drop, temperature reduction and flow velocity are studied

Comparison of results from Fluent with experimental results for a smaller, simpler
model
