PROPOSAL

JUSTIN & BRITTANY

March 27, 2016

OVERVIEW
1. Introduction/Problem Statement
The MSU parking availability within the campus core is insufficient for students living
on campus and parking pass prices are seemingly overpriced for the small amount
of parking in the campus. Parking for students living in the dorms can be a long
distance away which is not convenient for students with cars on campus. Students
can also not find spots when the available parking lots become full forcing them to
park far away in the distant lots on the outside of campus, seen in Figure 1.

2. Project Plan
v Methods Complete a survey of students who have cars on campus and have
also purchased a parking pass. Conduct research in the library about other
university campuses that have parking problems.

v Deliverables In the end, the problem of student parking availability and price of
parking passes will have a solution. Success will be submitting a completed
report with a recommended solution.

3. Qualifications
Brittany Bauer represents the current MNSU students that have purchased a parking
pass because they live on campus and have their own cars, that either have to park
in Lot 16, Lot 1 or Lot 2 which is shown by the red arrows in figure (1). Justin Novak
represents the MNSU students that do not have a parking pass and would have to
use the free lot if they were to make the commute to school with their own car. Other
skills include the ability to conduct research about the problems of MSU campus
parking and present the information in a white paper report with technical writing
skills.

4. Conclusion
We will be conducting research by surveying students on the current parking
problems and we will hope to learn more about the problems and possible solutions
to this problem via library research. Our report looks to address these problems with
MSU parking for students living in dorms and analyzing prices of parking passes.
