I can solve a word problem by multiplying a fraction by a whole number.

Procedure:

1. Opening number routine:


a. Mental math- 2+2+2+2+5+5+5+5
b. Ask students to solve mentally and write their answer on their
desk.
c. Have multiple students share their answers and strategies.
d. How were their strategies similar or different?
e. How is repeated addition similar to multiplication?
2. Display objective and read chorally. I can solve a word problem by
multiplying a fraction and a whole number.
3. Problem solving:
a. Display problem on the Smart Notebook.
b. Read chorally.
c. Debbie needed 1/3 of a cup of water for 1 flower. She has 7 flowers.
How many cups of water would she need?
