Content Standards:

The learner demonstrates understanding of multiplication and division of whole

numbers including money.

Performance Standards:

The learner is able to apply multiplication and division of whole numbers including
money in mathematical problems and real-life situations.

Learning Competency and Code:

The learner solves routine and non-routine problems involving multiplication of

whole numbers including money using appropriate problem solving strategies and
tools. M4NS-Id-45.4

I. Objectives:

At the end of 50 minutes, 100 % of the learners are expected to:

1. Solve routine word problems involving multiplication of whole numbers

including money using appropriate problem -solving strategies and tools
2. Use the 4-steps in solving problems.
3. Show awareness in Dignity of Labor and Thriftiness.

II. Content:

Subject Matter: Solving Routine Word Problems Involving Multiplication of Whole

Numbers Including Money Using Appropriate Problems in Solving

Strategies and Tools

Integration: Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao ( EsP ) Dignity of Labor and Thriftiness

Accuracy in Answering the Problem

English ( Sequencing /Ordering )

Strategies: Pairing Game, Pick and Pair, Puzzle Game, Cooperative Learning with

Differentiated Activities, Think- Pair and Share

Materials: Drill cards, Meta cards, cut outs, pictures, Real objects (Bills and coins )

References: K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum, Mathematics Learners Material 4 pp. 39-42

III. Learning Tasks:

A. Drill: Pairing Game

Find and pair the money that tells the amount inside the different shapes to the
amount written in words posted on the board. Php 99.10 Php 500.25

Php 15.45

Php 88.10 One hundred twenty seven pesos

and fifteen
centavos

Fifteen pesos and forty five

centavos
Eighty –eight pesos and ten centavos

Php 235.20 Php 127.15 Two hundred thirty five pesos and

twenty centavos
B. Review: Sequence the proper order of the following steps in solving a problem

shown in the cut - outs of arrows.

What are the operation to be used?

C. Motivation : ( Real Situation Scenario )

Post a picture of a Mother handed a money to her daughter Jzel before

leaving to school.
( Instill the Values of Dignity of Labor and Being Thrifty through the questions

about the picture)

How much money does your Mother give you every day for your allowance?

Do you spend all the money that your Mother give? What will you do to your extra

money? Why do you save some amount from your allowance? What do you do with

the money that you save? Do you spend it wisely?

D. 1. Presentation:
Problem A

Who receives money from her mother every school days?

How much did Jzel received? How much did she save from Monday to
Friday? How much did Jzel receive in a month?
2. Performing the Activity:

Group the pupils by Learning Teams. Ask the group to work together in

solving the answer to the problem. Give the Learning teams enough time to do

the task and let them post their output on the board.

Solution to the Problem: Using the Step Plan

Understand: Know what is asked:

Jzel’s monthly allowance

Jzel’s monthly savings

Know the given facts: Php75 daily allowance

Php 20 daily savings

Plan: Determine the operation to be used: Multiplication

Write the number sentences: Php75 20 = N

Php 55 20 = N

Solve: Show your solution

Php75 20 days = Php 1,500 ( monthly allowance of Jzel )

Php25 20 days = Php 500 ( savings of Jzel)

Check and Look Back: Review on their steps with the answers

E. Discussion:

1. Explain to the pupils that the problem they were solving is a Routine Problem.

2. Give the meaning of Routine Problem.

Routine Problem is a problem that concerns solving problems that
are useful for our daily living

3. Discuss that a routine problem can be answered using the steps in solving

problem namely: Understand, Plan, Solve, Check and Look Back

F. Exercises:

Application: ( Differentiated Activities)

Learning Team 1: Mrs. Pancho was paid for her 32-hour work at the rate of
Php275 per hour. How much was she paid?

Learning Team 2: Mang Leo earns Php 1,575 from his taxi every week. How

much will he earn in 5 weeks if there is no problem with the taxi?

Learning Team 3: A farmer from Sinayawan harvested 50 sacks of palay and

sold it to Php 450 per sack. How much does his income from his palay?

Learning Team 4: A vendor earns Php 1,575 from his sales every week. How
much will he earn in 10 weeks?

Let each group reporters present and report their output.

G. Generalization:

1. What is Routine Problem?

2. How do you solve Routine Problems involving multiplication of whole

numbers including money using appropriate strategies and tools?

IV. Evaluation
