Opening: introduce todays lesson. (2 minutes)

Review the rock cycle (5 minutes)
Fill in the blanks
Go over three main types of rocks.
Assign a student a rock and have them research uses for the rock. (10 minutes)
Pictionary activity- Each student will draw a picture of a use for the type of rock and the

rest of the class will guess. Each student gets 1 minute. (15 minutes)
a. The student will read what the type of rock is and what the uses are after the class either
guesses or time runs out.
5. Closing and clean up: introduce next weeks lesson of learning about tectonics. (3
minutes)
