Science Day Activities Plan

Introduction:
National Science Day is celebrated in India to mark the discovery of the Raman
effect by Indian Physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. National Science
Day is distinguished to spread a notable message about the importance of
science used in the daily life of the people.

Grade 5:

1. Introduction to planet spheres: Students will watch a video about the different
planet spheres (atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere, and biosphere) and discuss
their characteristics as a group.
2. Picture Scavenger Hunt: Students will be divided into groups and each group will
be assigned a planet sphere. They will be asked to find pictures that best
represent their assigned planet sphere and present their findings to the class.

Grade 6:

1. Introduction to Weathering and Erosion: Students will watch a video about


weathering and erosion and discuss the differences between the two processes
as a group.
2. Experiment with Models: Students will conduct an experiment with models to
observe the effects of weathering and erosion. They will also be encouraged to
make observations and draw conclusions about the processes.
3. Worksheet: Students will be asked to complete a worksheet that requires them to
explain the differences between weathering and erosion in their own words.
