CONTENT: THE MAJOR BIOMES OF THE EARTH

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards

The students demonstrate an understanding of the different biomes of the


earth and it’s characteristics.

B. Performance Standards

The students will create a visual representation illustrating the different kinds
of biomes and explain it creatively.

A. Learning Competencies

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

1. Identify and describe the characteristics of the major biomes of the


Earth.
2. Create a diorama of a specific biome, showcasing the key features and
species that inhabits it.
3. Appreciate the diversity and beauty of the Earth’s biome and the
importance of preserving it

C. Activities

1. WORD SEARCH!

In this pre-activity, the students will search for the words that are
related to the topic to reinforce their knowledge and understanding of the
different biomes. The words in the activity sheet may be hidden horizontally,
vertically, diagonally, forward or backward. They will circle the discovered
words within one(1) minute.

2. EXPLORE!
The students will be divided into three groups. Each group has
assigned two specific biomes to describe its characteristics such as
description, climate, vegetation, and wildlife. The presenters or
demonstrators will provide handouts and materials in making visual aids to
the groups. Each group will have two presenters to present their work
creatively following the rubrics to be guided.

Now that the students have enough background information and


knowledge about the different kinds of biomes and its characteristics, they
will create a creative diorama out of recycled materials showcasing a specific
biome of the Earth. The class is divided into three groups and each group will
select a biome. They will brainstorm and plan for their project to be
presented next meeting following the mechanics and guidelines.
