You will create flipped lessons based on the ASSURE model. You must complete this lesson plan
template before you begin to develop your screencast video. Please see a sample lesson plan posted in the
assignment page.
Lesson Topic:
Standard 2.1.2: Construct an explanation about changes in Earth’s surface that happen quickly or slowly.
Emphasize the contrast between fast and slow changes. Examples of fast changes could include volcanic
eruptions, earthquakes, or landslides. Examples of slow changes could include the erosion of mountains
or the shaping of canyons.
Analyze Learners:
This class consists of 20-22 second grade students. They are ages 7 or 8 with about half boys and half
girls. They attend a school in a suburban area with many children not coming from wealthy homes. Most
students understand that changes happen in the earth's surface and how different elements and weather
can change the surface. Few students may still be struggling with understanding this but through this
different way of learning hopefully they will be able to learn in a different way. All the students know
how to use their chrome books in order to access this technology. Each student also has access to a
chromebook that is theirs to take home during the school year.
State Objectives:
Given different pictures to look at, students will be able to determine what a slow versus a fast change on
earth’s surface looks like.
