LITERACY focus standard

MATH focus standard

CCSS: L.1.4a Students will determine or

clarify the meaning of unknown words and
phrases using sentence-level context as a
clue to the meaning.

CCSS: 1.MD.C.4 Organize, represent, and interpret

data with up to three categories; ask and answer
questions about the total number of data points, how
many in each category, and how many more or less
are in one category than in another.

We will use clues in nearby sentences for

meaning, and then define unknown words. We will
then use the words in a new sentence to
demonstrate understanding.

Scholastic Book Club orders are due by 7:00

tonight (5/16) so they will arrive before
school is over.
Homework this week: Nightly reading and
recording it in reading log thats all!
Pajama Day on Wednesday bring donation.
Remember to send in excuses for absences
or tardies.
The last day of school is Tuesday, May 24th.
Report cards will go home that day, and
dismissal is at 11:00.

We are doing a lot of work in the 3
interactive notebooks (Math, Language,
Science) to finish out the year. We are
completely out of glue sticks and liquid glue.

Monte Vista is working together to raise funds for our family that
lost their home to a house fire recently. We will have a school-wide
pajama day on Wednesday. Students need to bring in donations of
at least $1 in order to wear their pajamas.
All proceeds will go to the family.
I hope everyone is able to participate for this great cause!
