The Building Blocks

To be able to do anything there has to be some kind of basic knowledge to build on.
Although everyone is their own persons there needs to be some kind of knowledge they can use
to grow and become their own person. Education should be the stepping stones, relatable, and
open minded.
Education should not be stuck in stone, where there is only one way teach and one way to
learn, it is the stepping stones on a journey of their choice. There is certain information that
needs to be the same. This information is what the students can use to generate their own
perspectives on a certain topic. Middle scool teachers help students learn more about subjects
studied in elementary school, (Parkay, pg. 40). Education gives the students tools to build upon.
An example of these tools would be the knowledge.
The information students learn should be something they can relate to. Without doubt,
knowledge of your students is important, (Parkay, pg. 50). When the information is relatable
then the student can retain and transmit the information with a better understanding. They can
use that information to a higher quality than those who do not quite get it. Being able to Put the
information into a relatable way, gives the kids a new way to learn and opens up different
possibilities for those kids, making the learning more meaningful as it relates to their real lives.
Sometime there is no right answer, there are those that argue for and against a subject
there still is some kind of an open mind. This way the students know that there are different
opinions on a subject and although they might believe them to be wrong there are those who will
argue against that. The students do not need to accept what the others are saying as truth they just
need to listen and be mindful, not everything is black and white. As the people grow perspectives
start to shift.

The Building Blocks

This is why I believe that education should be the stepping stone, relatable, and open
minded. The students should be able to take the information is relatable and use it to grow and
succeed, yet still be mindful of others that have a different take on the information.
