Personal Experiences
Martin Luther King Jr. once quoted, If you cant fly then run, if you cant run then walk,
if you cant walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward. Also,
There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular,
but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right. Both of these quotes, before I had
even known of them, reflect on my life and my decisions so far. In my 14 years of life, I have
already encountered many hardships. But, I have kept going. I have also been forced to make
decisions that have caused negative actions to take place, but I still committed those actions
because my conscience and my heart both knew that they were right.
The quote that I believe mainly reflects my life so far is the first, when Martin Luther
King Jr. quoted that you must keep going. Although I am young, I have the mental and physical
scars that tell stories of my lifes hardships throughout the years. Sometimes I felt as though I
had no future and nothing to give to the people around me, but through patiently waiting through
the internal battles inside of me, I was able to emerge from the rain into the sun. One thing that I
have permanently remembered, thought of, and learned is that everything gets better. Whether
you wait it out, change your life, or put bandages on any cracks in your internal physique and
mentality, the sun will eventually shine once again through the darkness. Theres been very low
moments in my life when I was reduced from proudly walking with my head held high to
crawling and just trying to make it. But, even through all of it, a part of me still held on.

The second quote that I chose from Martin Luther King Jr. is about how you might have
to take actions that are not favored by people mentally and will not be praised by those among
you, but you know inside that they are the right choices to make. Although some people have
undoubtedly done more things than I that the public opinion didnt agree with, the one action that
I have done led to the relation between myself and the first Martin Luther King Jr. quote. Many,
many people didnt agree with the deed that I committed, but I knew that it wasnt right to keep it
a secret so I told the one person who it mattered the most to. But, even though I knew it was the
right thing to do, I was harshly and strongly ridiculed. But now that the dust has settled from the
uproar of my confession, I know even better now that things will and can get better.
In conclusion, I believe that these two quotes from Martin Luther King Jr. do strongly
relate to my personal experiences. Knowing that I do understand and relate to the famous Martin
Luther King Jr., even though for different reasons, makes me proud. It makes me hold my head
up a little higher to be able to narrate pieces of my life that have been quoted perfectly. I know
that I wouldnt of been able to put my past experiences into a moral or quote.
