LAROT SAYA SA PARKE

A Sports-For-All Campaign of the Philippine Sports Commission

1. WHAT IS SPORTS FOR ALL?

Sports for All is Sports for Life!
These are sports which keep us fit, can be fun, easy and affordable. These are physical
activities that develop admirable values, form desirable character and promotes peace and
unity among people.
Mass-based and highly-participatory in nature, sports for all activities are designed to
involve the greatest number of people (the individual, the family, the community) in a
broad range of sporting activities.
The sports for all agenda is developing a mind-set that being fit is not just about muscles,
speed and stamina. It is also about determination, discipline and dedication. These
attributes make for mental toughness, and help people to overcome unexpected adversities
posed by economic uncertainties. In this realm, sports and physical fitness, thus, have a
national dimension.
In sports for all, there are no distractions of a dazzle of medals, banners and glamour. The
focus is on mass participation to a healthy lifestyle. It is about creating lifelong habits,
adopting a healthy and better lifestyle.
2. WHAT IS LAROT SAYA SA PARKE?
Larot Saya Sa Parke is a park-based sports-for-all program of the Philippine Sports
Commission (PSC) that will eventually evolve into a national campaign to draw the Filipino
Family into play and sports.
The Filipino family is still the best agent for change. Admirable traits and
character, including the full development of a person take its roots from
the family. Engagement in sports emanates from the Filipino familys
support system for children to get into physical activities.
Hence, this sports-for-all campaign that is pioneered in Luneta is making use of the
significant family unit as springboard to the realization of the PSCs mandate to engage the
greatest number of people into sports and play.

Larot Saya Sa Parke gives credence to the mandate of PSC (Section 6-a, RA 6847), which is
to provide the leadership, formulate the policies and set the priorities and direction of all
national amateur sports promotion and development, particularly giving emphasis on

Every child and youth in a community play at least one sport, and does this regularly
with family or peers

cheering crowd, a patron, an volunteer-organizer or a player.
Everybody watches and cheers a winning team or a champion in the community
