This research was conducted to overcome teaching and learnings problem in

skill of dividing 4 digit numbers with 2 digit numbers. Pupils who were involved in
my research consist of 7 Standard 4 pupils. 5 of them are girls and 2 of them are
boys. I had used progression principal during the introduction of SPAD technique
which consists of SPAD Chart and Multi-Use Multiplication Table (JSPG). Early
observation to identify this problem had being conducted by analysing pupils
exercises in the exercise books, workbooks and answers from previous test.
Based on the analysis, pupils still unable to master the related skill. SPAD (Split
and Add) technique was introduced as an approach during teaching and learning
to help pupils master the said skill. 3 specific teaching and learning session
about SPAD technique was conducted and it showed that the technique which
had been taught helped pupils improved their skill in dividing 4 digit numbers
with 2 digit numbers. This action also helped to maintain and improve pupils
interest in learning division skill. This was shown by active involvement during
teaching and learning session. Besides, pupils mastery and understanding level
on other topics also showed an improvement.
