I. Course/Program Title: DIVISION-LED IN-SERVICE TRAINING (INSET) FOR TEACHERS 2019 (ELEMENTARY LEVEL)

II. Course/Program Brief Description: The program is a 3-day live out seminar for teachers to ensure engagement to lifelong learning necessary to
continuously increase competence resulting to increased academic performance of learners. Further, this will improve not just teachers’ technical
competencies but also personal and professional ethics in the workplace. This seminar-workshop will also target the following priority strands: strategies for
promoting literacy and numeracy, strategies for developing critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher-order thinking skills, management of
classroom structure and activities, learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests, and experiences, and planning and management of teaching and learning
process.

The seminar-workshop will be composed of various learning repertoires such as group discussion, forum and lecture. Also topics may be split into plenary
and breakout sessions depending on the nature of the topics to be covered and who the participants will be. Common topics among all teachers shall be in
plenary sessions while specialized topics shall be in breakout sessions.

IV. Particular Continuing Professional Competency/ies:


1. To rediscover the art of questioning and its impact in the teaching-learning process;
2. To strengthen skill in teaching beginning reading and promoting developmental reading;
3. To reinforce the use of differentiated instruction across disciplines and to different types of learners;
4. To emphasize mainstreaming of gender and development across all learning areas; and,
5. To highlight the importance of positive values in the teaching profession
