Samoan cuisine , like much of Samoan life ,is enjoy in a largely communal
fashion. Families often gather together for a traditional imu firepit feast
were pork Is the favorite meat . Sea food & fish are also abundant and
very popular . Coconuts are gather in beaches and used for there meats
& coconut milk & cream . Taro roots , bananas and bread fruit from a
starchy foundation to the diet .

Samoa. Males at age 12 or 13 visit a
local tufuga (tattoo artist) for
tattooing from waist to knee, a
prolonged and often painful process
that is considered a rite of passage .
Christian missionaries in the 19th
century, believing that tattooing was
contrary to biblical teachings,
eliminated the practice from many
Polynesian islands; however, Samoans
maintained the tradition and helped
revive it among Tahitians and other
groups in the late 20th century.
