VALUES

This study also revealed that Blaan folk literature embodies the tribe's
values and ideals like generosity, courage, bravery, and traditions like
the giving of dowry to their intended bride. They also valued nature
and believed in the Supreme Being, whom they call Dwata but whose
traits are like the Christian god.

CUSTOME

The women’s hemp jacket, called albon, typically has a red

bodice and black sleeves. Ansif (embroidery) decorates the
sleeves, shoulders, wrists, side seams, and waist area.
Women’s blouses may be heavily ornamented with
embroidery, beads, and buttons. The women may also wear
necklaces, anklets, and strings of tiny bells hanging around
their waist. An aromatic root or fragrant flower may
decorate their waist piece.
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY

The couple has to sit on the pillows surrounded with parents, relatives
and witnesses. Normally, the wedding ceremony would be held in the
bride's home, but because it was a Kasalang tribu, the ceremony was
held in the Tribal House, where Bong Fulong assisted.

GOVERNMENT AND LAWS

TUPI SOUTH COTABATO- Over a hundred families mostly from the

B'laan Tribe in a remote barangay here have recently benefited from a
relief operation of a donor-funded government program for internally
displaced persons, or IDPs. Relief items consisting of food and non-
food essentials, as well as medicines were handed over to families in
Barangay Tubeng whose livelihood and properties were severely
affected by past armed conflicts in parts of central Mindanao.
GAMES AND LEISURE

Traditional games by Blaan Indigenous Peoples like sfaltu (long jump),

skuya kura (horseracing), sumpit (blowgun), and pana (bow and
arrow) were showcased just as Blaan elders performed kmisong (fire
making) using coconut husk or dried wood coir and split bamboo.

ECONOMY AND TRADE

With the help of the PKF Foundation, B’laan people will
inventory and map their local resources, learn and apply
sustainable practices to increase food production both in
the uplands and lowlands (about fifty hectares), care for
watersheds and collaborate to work and sell their products
together

boarding institution that provides quality secondary
