NDT/Lifting Equipment Inspection

Inspection Criteria for Master Links and other Rings

a. Ensure the Link or Ring has the Equipment Tag Number and Safe Working Load clearly and
legibly marked, and corresponds with the Manufacturer’s Certificate.

b. Inspect the Link or Ring body for wear, distortion, corrosion, stretch and cracking.

c. Inspect the central pin of snap or hammerlock joints, both laterally and transversely for excessive
wear.

d. The complete Link or Ring shall be subjected to non-destructive testing at a period not exceeding
1 year.

REJECTION CRITERIA
Missing or illegible Identification Number or Safe Working Load
Any mechanical damage i.e. nicks, cuts, gouges etc.
Any wear or corrosion in excess of 5% of original dimension
Any wear or corrosion in excess of 5% of original central pin dimension
Any thermal damage or welding of the Link or Ring
Any stretch, distortion or cracking
Hard stamping with Non- low stress stamps
