Group Krypton.
Definition.
• It is represented by the letter Z.
• It is the number of protons found in the
nucleus.
• It is found in the periodic table in
increasing order from left to right.
Periodic Table.
Relationships.
• Protons:
The atomic number is the number of
protons in the nucleus. Thus, we can
derive that the relationship of the
Atomic Number and Proton of an atom
is 1=1.
Example: Every atom of Krypton contains 36
protons in the nucleus. Hence, the atomic
number of Krypton is 36.
Relationships.
• Electrons:
The atomic number is also the number of
electrons surrounding the nucleus. This is
because atoms have no electric charge.
Therefore, the number of protons(which
are positively charged) and electrons(which
are negatively charged) are equal. From
here we can also derive that the
relationship of the Atomic Number and
Electron is 1=1.

Example: Every atom of Krypton has 36 protons surrounding

the nucleus. Hence, the atomic number of Krypton is 36.
