Hard to Smother

My head and my heart don't match

one is wearing stripes while the other has been blinded with polka-dots.
The constant confrontation of such violent colors makes me want to vomit.
It hurts and I've already told you I'm afraid of the dark.
The distance between Venus and Mars is far too vast to expect any sunlight in
between.
And I'd much rather be left in myself than to be watered daily, only to soon be
forgotten and left to wither.
I had such morbidly beautiful colors without your attendance, how did you
become invited?
You are distracting and unsafe, a brilliant wonder I am not sure I am ready to
taste.
Please, I was not thirsty until you sprinkled the water.
Don't drown me in my own bliss.
