 SAFE SHOES: This is a term that your child may begin to use often. In kindergarten we refer to sneakers and flat
sandals with an ankle strap as “safe shoes.” We play organized games on the grass and we play on the play structure.

Flip flops, shoes with wedged heels, and slip on sandals with no ankle strap bring risk of injury as we run, skip, jump,
hop, and play. We ask that your child wear “safe shoes” to school on a daily basis. Girls, keep your fancy fashion
shoes for after school or for weekend attire. 19 20 21 22 23 24 25

 HOMEWORK NOTEBOOKS: .Your child should have brought home their first two homework notebooks. The number 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4/1.5 1.6
practice books stays home. There are several objectives behind the notebooks: [1] we know that children need practice and
repetition to acquire fluency and automaticity. [2] children are learning a habit that will support their education in higher
grades. [3] time that parents spend with children on academic practice imparts a message of the importance of education.
During this next month please encourage your child to use a pencil while writing, to write numbers and letters within the
boundaries of the lines, to leave one finger space between each letter, and to color neatly. Our motto in kindergarten is
“Doing our best is the BEST; not being the fastest or the first done.” Your child has the whole months to complete his/her
book………...about 10-20 minutes per night. Thank you for your support. Mrs. Schroeder
