I Remember Love

Ricardo Saúl LaRosa

I remember love as it once shinned upon my life,

Embracing my very being with joys earned in strife,
Hearts tumbling down a mountain of love,
Blessed for once in my life by the stars above,

I remember love as it used carry me above the skies,

A happiness beyond compare not caring about the whys,
I awoke in the mornings with her as my first thought,
Where is my love; o’ where? I need to know her heart I sought,

I remember love as majestic as is splendor in the grass,*

Sweet kisses from her womanly lips to mine did pass,
All my worries vanished instantly when I heard her voice,
My world was at peace content fully my spirit did rejoice,

I remember love with sweetness as it was once flowering,

But not this day for a mysterious sadness is devouring,
All my faith in love and hope that I once held upon a throne,
Has abandoned me gone along with my heart that has flown,

I remember love when she was with me walking hand in hand,

Talking and strolling for hours upon the warm summer’s sand,
She pretended to be a fish as she swam joyfully with me,
Wiggling in my hands giving me all her love no longer to be,

I remember love, her love as though it was just now,

For I still love her, in these verses I do faithfully avow…
