Hi!

I’m Suzzi Romines

Intercultural Communications
Who Am I?

I’m Suzzi Romines, a 47 year

old wife, mother and IUE
student! I grew up in a one-
parent family due to physical
abuse by my father. He rarely
came around after that so we
grew up poor and feeling like
we weren’t always good
enough…especially for things
like college. So I never took it
seriously until the last couple
of years and here I am! I have
about 9 courses to go for my BS
in Communications!
What Else Do I Do?
I’m the Event Coordinator for Prevent Child
Abuse in Dearborn and Ohio County and we’re
hosting a Bullying Workshop on Friday, Sept.
10th. There are several Bullying workshops
across the state and for more information, you
can go to www.pcain.org.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect or need help, call 1-800-800-5556.

Other Interests
• I am a 24 year veteran for Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater
Cincinnati. I’ve had 6 little sisters most
who have been neglected or physically
abused. One, even sexually abused. My
current little sister is 11 years old and
with my own daughters ages 13 and 9,
we are thrilled to be a part of her life.
We help with homework, she comes over
and plays games, we take her on outings
and she even stays overnight sometime. Gina, Sydney and Searcy

5 nouns to describe me
• Compassion: I try to be aware of others feelings. I want to be known as a
great friend to others.
• Determination: I’m dedicated to earning my college degree. I’ll be the first in
my family (my mom/brother) to earn a college education. Sometimes finances
make me think about taking another break, but I’m trying to hang on.
• Faith: I am praying a lot right now to ask God to guide me in my work,
finances, studies, family and future goals. It’s been a rough year with pay cuts,
etc. But I’m not giving up.
• Magazine Producer: This is what I want to be. I want to tell great stories about
ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
• Mother…save the best for last. It’s my most favorite job. It’s hard but well-
worth it. I have two really great kids and feel they are my gifts. I’m doing my
best and trying to teach them to do things for others, to study hard and to be
strong women.
Question for the Class
• How will this course help you in your future?

I hope that this helps me to understand others better in my writing , and to

help bring awareness to other’s beliefs, culture and traditions.
