learning
21 Have the recent changes in the curriculum given the pupils more
interest in their learning.

A I understand possible barriers to learning and attendance and

2 6 4
measures that are in place to overcome them
Comments:Unsure about curriculum as I am a new Governor. Some teachers are not fully aware of the children’s full
potential and therefore cannot expect the children to do their best. More diverse range of extra-curricular events
needed.

undertake
What do you think the school does best?
Proactive and engaging. Tries to improve all pupils learning outcomes. Very noticeable that staff care about each child. Great to
see more sports activities. Friendly and caring school. Generates an air of “family”-all children know and look out for each other.
Motivated and inspiring staff. Provides a nurturing family atmosphere. Moving forward with standards and analysis of all pupil
needs.Values will help children as they go through life.

What do you think needs to be improved?

Ecology and environmental studies. Continue to involve the wider community. Engage with the local community more often. Extend
extra curricular activities. Striving to meet the needs of the more able children.

If you wish to make any additional comments regarding the strength and weaknesses of the school, or ask a question please do so
below.
I think the workload on the Headteacher should be of concern to the governors. I think they should be looking for more resource-
sharing opportunities with other schools for the non teaching work, projects and activities that get put off at St Thomas Primary.
For example, there seems to be no, or little work on Green and Sustainability issues. There is so much that could be done here—
and this is where the future jobs are going to be coming from in the future as oil becomes more scarce.
