Is it wrong to focus on self, to have

desires and always like to be happy?

Chandramowly
• Happiness is the highest
objective of all beings.
• Happiness is actually our natural
state.
• There are two dimensions to our
vision. The internal vision with
the process of introspection, that
tells us how we feel and see the
images of our own state of mind.
• Through the external vision, we
look at the objects of the world,
the things and beings.
• We are able to see the world outside with our sense organs and
interact with it, using our mind and intellect.
• Our mind is an instrument of feelings and thoughts.
• The past experiences and related thoughts are stored in the
part of mind called as `chitta’.
• The overall collection of ‘chitta’ from unknown past to known
present remains in us in the form of instincts or `vAsanAs’.
• Whenever we are in the awakened state and get
connected to the world its objects or people, there is an
instant formation of thoughts and they all fall in to three
channels.

• 1.‘Mine, I love it, I need it always - Not Mine, but I need

it, I must get it some how’,
• 2.‘I do not want it, I must avoid it, and ensure that it
doesn’t affect me’ and
• 3. ‘I am not concerned and I am indifferent to that’.
These three channels are named as `Ishtam’, `Anistam’,
`Mishram’ in Bhagavadgita.
• Upanishads simplify all our desires,
thoughts and actions into three segments called ‘I
would like to be there always’,’ I would like to know
every thing, understand and learn’ and ‘I want that
unstoppable and infinite happiness’.

• This human objective trio is called as ‘sathyam’ (exists

in Past, Present and Future), `chit’ (knowledge) and
`Aananda’ (bliss). Our masters unified the three into
one called, `sathichidAnanda’ the nature of the
cosmic all-pervasive force.
• Since we are all part of that sat-chit-ananda,
there is nothing wrong when one wants to be
here always, wants to know everything and
wants to be happy forever.
• There is some thing wrong with a person
when he or she is indifferent to these three
natural human aspects.
Focus internally, have great desires and
perform any activity. Follow the rules
of Game. Ensure non-injury (ahimsa),
truth (satyam), calmness (akrOdham),
perfection and humility.
