Green Zone – Matt Damon

0-15 Sounds of warfare with loud gun shots and explosions whilst the opening credits run
on.
15-30 The sounds of gun shots fade away, then a sound of wind blowing and a bomb siren
are heard while on screen there is the company that made the film.
30-45 A man is heard, speaking on the news of the push on Iraq, whilst multiple bombs are
heard going off in the background of his speech. There is no video at this point
showing any of the DIEGETIC SOUND.
45-60 The man carries on talking on probably what sounds like a news channel, however it is
not seen. He says “The war on Iraq has now definitely begun.” At the same time a slow
but dramatic song is played (NON DIEGETIC SOUND) played on the violin.
60-75 The music now dramatically changes into a fast paced tense tune, that is full of drums
and loud bangs incorporated with the war explosions in the background. On screen a
man is shown hurrying out of his apartment. This is the opening scene of the film.
75-90 The fast pace music is carried on, but now the shouts and screams of characters in the
scene are also heard. A man is heard shouting “leave that and get out” in Arabic. The
fast paced music adds a sense of franticness and confusion amongst all of the things
going on in the scene.
90-105 In this section the viewer can hear different objects crashing to the ground in the
mansion because of the loud explosions and gun fire from outside.
105-120 There is constant loud shots heard from a machine gun firing at and around the
mansion and this causes a large chandelier to crash landing on a character. The loud
shouts and cries of the character then carry on to the next scene.

This picture shows one of the explosions happening outside of the building.
