You are on page 1of 2

Colour: - they have used a basic colour

scheme of black and pink, this runs through

out the contents page and gives a theme. I
think they use black and pink to appeal to
the two genders of the audience, also black
and pink contrast off each other well. They
also use white as a sub colour as it goes
well with the black and pink.

Font: - the main font is sans serif; this is

simple for the audience. They use bigger
and bolder font for the important bits of
the page, for example the ‘contents’ and
the headings ‘school life’ this is to draw the
reader in and make them look. They use
smaller font for the titles of the pages as
this is if you want to find out more and they
have already brought you in with the
heading. The main story is ‘music review’
we know this as it’s the biggest and
boldest.

Layout: - the route of the eye goes, picture> writing > picture> pages this is good as you get
to see all of the important things of the page. In the terminal area there in a box of pages,
this is so you read what’s going on in the magazine. The life side is the dominant side so they
put the picture of the women, the logo and ‘school life’ there so it’s easy to notice. As well
they use there hot spots as there hot spots are on main image > smaller images > ‘school
life’ > ‘music review’ this all grabs your attention and therefore easier to read.

Images: - they use an image of a student so the audience can relate to them; they use a
prop as a folder as it shows that she is a student like the target audience. They also have the
school in the background as it’s a suitable setting for a school magazine. There are two other
small images; one is of two students so this also relates to the reader. The other is in a class
room that the reader may have been in and this makes it more exciting for them.

Language: - the language is simple and easy to read as its relaxing for the students and its
easy to follow. They use stories that the audience would relate to like ‘how to balance your
social life with school work’ this is a topic that universities students worry about.
Colour: - colour is used effectively in this
contents page but the main colour they use
is white. They use white as it ca go with
main colours and contrast off of them. They
have 3 section blocks of colours, black, blue
and green. This is because there are 3
sections. The black is at the top and it’s the
biggest section as it’s the most in, I think
they used black as the biggest so you
concentrate on the articles not the colour.
Then the other two sections brighten up
the contents page and draw the audience
in.

Font: - they use a sans serif font as they

keep it simple for the children reading the
magazine. The titles are a different font and
they are bigger, this is because they want it
stand out and make it easy to see. As well
the font is at a reasonable size so it’s easy
to read on the page.

Layout: - the put all the page titles on the left hand side as the left hand side is dominant.
The route of the eye goes title > pages > bottom page numbers, this is so you get to see
everything on the page. They use the layout of the 3 blocks to easily separate the parts of
the magazine this makes it easy to follow.

Image: - they don’t use any images on the contents page as it makes you foucus only on
what’s on the page and what articles you want to read. This makes the page not cluttered
and easy to follow.

Language: - the language they use is very simple so therefore easy to read and follow.
