Course Outline

1. Objective:

Developing an understanding of Management of Multinational Corporations.


2. Course design and contents
The course will have two major components:
• Class sessions (Concepts and cases)
• Project work
2.1 Class sessions:
There are 24 sessions; the topics are as follows:
1. Concept of Multinational Corporation, Globalization of Markets and
Internationalization of the Firm, Organizational Participants in International Business.
2. The Environment of International Business
3. Global Strategy and Organization
4. Global Market Opportunity Assessment
5. Exporting and Counter Trade
6. FDI and Collaborative Ventures
7. Licensing, Franchising and Other Contractual Strategies
8. Global Sourcing
10. Marketing in the Global Firm
11. HRM in the Global Firm
12. Financial Management and Accounting in the Global Firm
13. Cases

2.2 Project Work


Students need to form groups with each group not exceeding 4 members.
The topic of the project will be announced in the class.
3. Course Mechanics
3.1. Classes

Classes will be based on both theory and case studies. For case studies, students are
expected to come prepared for case discussions.

3.2. Project work:


A project outline (<300 words) is to be submitted by the second week of the course. This
outline is to be discussed and agreed by the instructor and the group, and will form the
basis for proceeding with the project. Final project report to be submitted at the time of
making the presentation, in both hard and soft copy.

4. Evaluation:
Internal Assessment: 40%
• Attendance: 5%
• Mid Term: 15%
• Project & Class Performance: 20%
End Term: 60%
