The start of the video opens with Miley playing the piano
which goes with the song as if she is playing it. This
opening introduces Miley as a character and the piano, a
prop used continuously throughout the video
This shot shows a typical music video convention of
Miley miming the words along the piano as a key prop.
The background and location of the beach also sets the
scene for the music video and matching to the lyrics
which can also be another convention.
At 2.16 shows the climax as Miley’s love interest has a
fight, later on they then argue. This shows the moment
of high tension in the video.
At 0.26 Miley is shown sitting the back of a car this
shows that there is a story to the video makes the viewer
wonder as to where she is going.
The scene set at the beach again still relates to the
lyrics. Shows the beginning of the rising action of
Freytags triangle as the two spend time together.
This scene shows the falling action as the beach location
is sustained and still matching with the lyrics. This also
shows the piano and Miley still singing and carrying
through with conventions.
This shot at 1.14 introduces Miley love interest which
sets up the inciting incident of Freytag’s pyramid and the
rest of the storyline throughout the music video.

upset and makes the viewer question as to why. The
location and costume also sustains the beach theme
throughout the different more serious scenes of the
video.
The last shot shows the resolution as the two love
interests are about to kiss which shows the viewer that
the problem has been resolved and shows the ending of
the story.
