Music video analysis

Adele- Cold Shoulder

This is the Music video I have chosen to

remake. I have chosen this song because I
think the lyrics relate to everyday situations
that happen within relationships. I also think
the narrative will create a good music video .
Also pop dominates the music charts at the
moment so by choosing this genre will help to
sell more records. 
Throughout the video there are
close-ups of the artist. This is
effective for this type of Genre as it
shows emotion. As the video is
about the artists boyfriend falling
out of love with her these shots
show the emotions of the artist.

I will use these types of shots in my

music video to express the
emotions of my artist.
 Camera shots

The music video is trying to portray the emotions of the artist

through to the audience, which is why throughout the video
close-ups and mid shots are used. The close-ups of the artist
allow the audience to be involved with the artists emotions. Also
shots of melting ice sculptures are used to represent the artist
and her boyfriend. The body language of the sculptures indicate
how they are feeling frustrated and shows the strain of their
relationship.
By the video just using close ups
and mid shots it leaves the
audience to focus on just the
artist.

I will use the idea of just having

my artist singing with a dark
background in my video as I feel
this will not distract the
audience as it would if I had
something in the background. I
will also have cuts showing the
couples relationship so the
audience have a sense of what
the Narrative of the music video
is.
 Representation

The use of ice sculptures in the video represent the artist

and her boyfriend and shows the type of relationship
they have. At the beginning of the video fast cuts
showing their relationship establish what the Narrative
is. Throughout the video cuts of the ice sculptures
melting are shown this represents the couples
relationship coming to an end. At the end of the video
the sculptures have melted and the artist turns into ice.

know this because throughout the video
their are clips showing the couples
relationship. Such as when they are
fighting and arguing with each other. The
video also shows more happy times in
their relationship. The video portrays the
love-hate relationship between the couple
as they continue to fight, steal and make-
up with each other.
One of the elements of editing in the video is
the fire. In the video the couple and the
house burst into flames, this indicates how
“fiery” their relationship is. Also when the
couple are arguing and walking through
their house a tracking shot is used so the
audience can see through the house. In
several parts of the video slow motion is
used for example when they are stealing.
