Definition:- Gerund is the ‘ING’ from of a verb, which functions as a noun. It is also
called VERBAL NOUN.
NOTICE:- that we use a noun as the subject or object of a sentence.
1. Ali teaches English. (Ali is a noun as a subject & English is also noun as an object)
2. Salman brings books. (Salman as a subject & books as an object)
3. Barka writes a letter. (Barkat as a subject & letter as an object)
1. Teaching is very good for everybody. (teaching is Gerund and subject here)
2. Reading is the only way to improve. (reading is Gerund and subject here)
3. Playing is better then sitting at home. (Playing is Gerund and subject here)
Tired of, interested in, afraid of, good at, sorry for, bored with, excited about, terrified
of, and fed up with.
. When a verb is placed immediately after a preposition, the gerund from must be
used(ing).
1. I am used to teaching.
2. They are tired of working at home.
3. We are bored of reading stories.
Stop, suggest, enjoy, avoid, love, mind, hate, discuss, mention, can’t stand, like, start,
begin, finish, etc.
