The Rationals Game Rules
Game Play
One player (Pascal) begins by taking a tile out of the bag. This player may either keep taking tiles or
stop for as long as he/she wants.
Passing
When that person (Pascal) is finished taking tiles, he/she passes the whole pile to the person on his/her
left (Murphy). That person can choose to start over or keep going.
If the new person (Murphy) decides to start over, the old person (Pascal) gets as many points as
he/she had tiles, and the tiles go back in the pile.
If the new person (Murphy) keeps going, he/she must take at least three tiles. If he/she doesn't get a
stop (see later), he/she can keep going as long as he/she keeps drawing rational numbers. If the new
person gets a stop, the old person (Pascal) gets all the points (one per tile), and the tiles all go back in
the pile.
Stops
If a player draws an irrational number, he/she loses all the tiles and they go back in the pile (unless the
pile came from a previous player then that player gets the points).
Special Cards
If a player draws a "Dragon" tile, the pile is worth double the number of tiles.
If a player draws a "Monkey" tile, he/she has to put two tiles back into the pile.
If a player draws a "Cow" tile, he/she passes the pile to the next person immediately. The next person
can either stop or keep going (no 3tile rule).
