A= student answering question E= Active engagement (raising hands, participating, sharing, looking up and taking notes, tracking the speaker) P= Passive engagement (seemingly doing what the teacher expects, staying quiet, doing the work, not asking/answering questions) O= Off-Task (not keeping up with work, looking around, talking/whispering, playing, fiddling with irrelevant items)
