Store Assessment
Project Details (1)
 Each group will visit two stores
- Big Bazaar and Pantaloon
 Every member of the group will approach
both Stores during the visit from the eyes of
a Retailer, instead of a consumer
 Each group will observe certain
departments in both stores and make
comparisons.
Project Details (2)
 Each group will observe certain departments
in Big Bazaar and its equivalent departments
in Pantaloon for making comparisons.
 The activity and question format for
comparison is available in Levy & Weitz
Chapter 2 and Appendix to Chapter 2, Exhibit
2-12, under comparison shopping in the
following headings:
- Merchandise Presentation/ Sales Support/
Customer Services/ Merchandise Details/
Summary & Conclusions.

 Group wise assigned departments/
categories are given below:
Group 1 - Big Bazaar Fashion-2 + Toys
Group 2 – Home & Kitchen
Group 3 - Electronic Bazaar (w/o Kitchen appliance)
Group 4 – Big Bazaar Fashion-1 + Accessories
Group 5 - Footwear & Mobiles
Group 6 - Bags & Luggage + Kitchen Appliance

*Groups assigned as per lottery held in class


Project Details (4)
 Groups to follow the format in Chapter 2 and also
find out the following:
- Approx. number of SKUs in the respective product
categories in both stores
- Store information about hours of operation, duty
hours of Associates, store hierarchy, store return
policy, in-home delivery, internet ordering, etc.
 Each group will submit a project report along with a
Presentation towards the end of the course with
observations and future recommendations
 The presentation should highlight the summary of
the report and point out major comparative data in
the respective product categories in both stores
