Kulai - Pontian - Kluang Joint Meeting

20th November, 2010
Report by PP Joseph Tin
On the 20th November, 2010, RC Kulai organized a joint-club meeting. The difference this time; RC Pontian
participated as the co-host for the inter-clubs meeting, and arranged vocational visits for all participants
like visits to DGN Lee Kong Hwee's Costume Jewellery Factory and Lee Biscuits in Pontian. The venue for
the three-clubs joint meeting was held in the conference room of DGN's factory. The joint-meeting in
Pontian ended with a Nyonya Baba Lunch in Pontian, which all of us enjoyed very much.

Since the turn out from from RC Kluang was

poor, in order not to disappoint the host and
co-host, both PP Yoke Soon and PP Simon
literally brought their whole family along to
make-up the number to represent partici-
pants from RC Kluang. Other RCK Rotarians
participated were Rtn Albert Tan and myself.
We met in Taman Intan and depart for
Pontian about 9.00am.

The second leg of the joint-meeting was a

visit to RC Kulai dialysis centre and a two-
clubs meet (RC Kulai and RC Kluang) in Ku-
lai. The meeting in Kulai was simple but en-
joyable. It ended with a simple buffet in the
RC Kulai Rotary Centre. After the meeting, all adjourned to the residence of Rtn. Josephine of RC Kulai for
fellowship. We arrived back in Kluang about 10.00pm.

Day Trip to Melaka - 22nd November, 2010 - Report by Rtn Shakeel

Since I joined the RC Kluang, I have got a good im-

pression of the fellowship benefits the membership
brings. For the first time I saw Rotary International
motto in action. “Service above Self.” As we took a
group of children from Agape Shelter to a day trip of
Melaka, PP Simon’s words rang true. “The look of
joy on their faces makes it worth the while.” And it
certainly was joy to watch their faces, as they shuf-
fled along, tired but animated, sleepy but energetic.
It was rejuvenating.

We climbed the St Paul Hill, we visited the Cheng Ho

Museum. The RC A Famosa generously picked the
tab for lunch at McDonald’s and the tickets to the
zoo. Kids being kids, the Zoo was the main attrac-
tion, “Are we going to zoo now, are we.” They kept
asking soon as they got in the bus at Kluang.

The trip around the zoo was tiring though fun

filled jaunt. Their faces a delight when Rtn Tan, the
Organizing Chair for this trip bought them all ice
creams.

By the time they reached the bus, one would

have thought they would just fall into their seats,
asleep. But know. They were as lively as you could

expect a bunch of kids to be, singing and dancing

and generally being merry.
From the club point view, for once, though, there
were more Rotarians than Past Presidents in the en-
tourage, a fact that PP Peter would find very pleas-
ing.
