 Dabba = “Lunch Box”

 Walla = “Man”

 A person who carries lunch from home and delivers to the office

 Originated in Mumbai one of the busiest and densely populated cities in the
world.
OVERVIEW
 Started by Mahadeo Havaji Bachche in 1880 with 100 employees

 Current no of employees = 5000

 Delivers around 175,000 to 200,000 lunch boxes everyday

 A charitable trust was registered under the name of Nutan Mumbai Tiffin
Box Suppliers Trust in 1956.

 No use of modern technology except for coding technique (until late 2000).
ECONOMIC ANALYSIS
 Each Dabba Walla gets paid around 2000 to 4000 (INR) => $40 -$80/Month

 Home made food is cheaper than outside food

 Charges around 250 -300 Rs => $5 - $6/Month

 A customer base of 200,000 provides employment to 5000 people

 Every employee gets paid equally .
