Welspun India Ltd. (WIL) in 1995

• WIL is Asia's largest and the 2nd largest Terry Towel producers in the World

• Its business and distribution network is spread across 32 countries including


U.S.A., U.K, Canada, Australia, Italy, Sweden and France. With
manufacturing facilities in United Kingdom, Portugal and Mexico

• Welspun’s terry towel units are located in India (Anjar and Vapi at Gujarat)

• WIL's product range includes - Bed Linen, Top-of-the bed products,


Decorative & basic bedding, Bath Rugs, Bath Robes besides Terry Towels.

VERTICALLY INTEGRATED PLANT:

• Right from spinning to confectioning i.e. from the acquisition of raw


materials to the retailing of the final product takes place at one unit
• In house - design studio of brilliant designers gives Welspun the flexibility to
provide a range of bathrobes to its customers, making it a unique bathrobe
manufacturer.

TECHNOLOGY:

• Latest Computerized Weaving Machines from Europe and Japan with


Microprocessor controlled.
• Use of world class Technology from all around the world
• Auto feeding of dyes and chemicals with Computerized Color Matching and
testing facilities
• Automatic Fault detection system for defects free process

QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES

• Quality Controls right from cotton stage to ensure consistent Quality and
Shade continuity
• Testing facilities: To test all requisite quality parameters of a towel
• Testing of Dyes, chemicals, Auxiliaries used in the process
• In-house complete testing lab equipped with latest machinery for cotton and
yarn testing.
• Effluent treatment plants and the Waste dispersal plants
• Use of long staple cotton procured from exclusive and selected fields in
India

Basis for site location in GUJARAT
NEARNESS TO SEAPORT:

• As 94% of the total produce is exported; hence the plants ( Anjar and Vapi)
in proximity to Kandla and Mumbai port respectively result into reduction in
transportation cost and faster distribution

TEXTILE HUB:

• Vapi is one of the major textile manufacturing hubs of India


• Over 95% of power loom machinery manufacturers of India are in Gujarat
• Gujarat accounts for 60% of India's cotton exports

AVAILABILITY OF RESOURCES:

• The Gujarat State produces 35%  of  total  national production of cotton


• Production of cotton is concentrated in the districts of Surendranagar,
Rajkot, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Mehsana and Bhavnagar
• Presence of more than 40,000 embroidery employees

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT:

• The Gujarat govt. provides 25% capital subsidy on purchase of machineries


• Custom duty on textile machinery is only 5%
• Also, various human resource development activities for the textile industry
has been initiated by state government
• Subsidy at 50% of R&D expenditure is provided to industries carrying out
research
• Interest subsidy at 3% is provided for capital equipment for five years
• Assistance is also provided for infrastructural development, market
promotion and environment protection.
• The state has a well developed infrastructure for the industry consisting of
18 product clusters, 5 dedicated Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and 6
industrial parks
• 10% credit link subsidy for processing sector in textile industry
